Capital Art Gallery

The Capital Hash House Harrier Art Gallery is famous for providing its audience with thought provoking works which, while expressing powerful emotions, still amuse and entertain. This year, the CH3 Art Gallery brings you the long-awaited spiritual study of one of this centuries most recognised Hashmen - "St Mixo, the Man, the Pose"

Name: St. Mixo the Whinger
Artist: Capital Hash
School: Australian
Object Type: Digital

Classic art followers are critical of these two works. Da Vinci's "St John the Baptist" is a disturbing representation of a character normally portrayed as gaunt and fiery, living in a desert and surviving on a diet of locusts and honey.

In the case of Capital Hashers' "St Mixo the Whinger", the subject looks weathered and crazy, after living on a diet of beer and Hash Nosh.

Both works have fingers raised, one to Heaven and the other, to the GM. While St John contains that same enigmatic smile so admired on the face of Mona Lisa, St Mixo the Whinger grimaces, probbly in reply to an unfortunate Hasher who has deviated from trail-laying ettiquette.

Name: St. John the Baptist
Artist: Leonardo da Vinci
School: Italian
Object Type: Oil on canvas

Name: Mixo instrusting Beer
Artist: Capital Hash
School: Australian
Object Type: Digital

Jean-Claude's "Juno" has her right arm pointing towards the heavens, the left leaning on the reclining naked winged Cupid.

Capital's "Mixo" has his beautifically erect arm raised towards Hash Heaven, praying for plentiful beer and hamstring strength.

Juno wears a loose gown, pale blue mantle, all richly jewelled, and beneath them the groun is covered with a red cloth littered with buds.

Mixo drapes himself in sunflower yellow, a rich constrast to the sable bike shorts - strangely reminiscent of a bumblebee.

Behind Juno stands a peacock which is her symbol. Behind Mixo, a Blackdog, the Hash mascot.

Artist: Jean-Claude Naigeon 1753-1832
School: French
Object Type: Oil on canvas

Name: Appeal to the Great GM
Artist: Capital Hash
School: Australian
Object Type: Digital

Dallin, renowed sculptor of Indian men, is probably best known for his work "Appeal to the Great Spirit".

Capital Hash is renowed for the work "Appeal to the Great GM", an artful depiction of respect and beer swilling.

Dallin created a model of Sacajawea, showing him stepping forward, one arm at his side, the other extended, pointing the way for the mounted explorers.

Capital's digital representation captures Mixo standing casually, yet at tight attention, again in bumblebee attire. His left arm extends towards the Grand Master, appealing for greater down-down punishment. The other arm grasps, with a choking dead-man's grip, a chilled Tooheys Old.

Name: Appeal to th Great Spirit
Artist: Cyrus Dallin 1914
School: America
Object Type: Stone

Name: St. Mixo the Drunk
Artist: Capital Hash
School: Australian
Object Type: Digital

Grazzi's "St John the Baptist" is shown threequarters length, seated and nude from the waist up, except for his right shoulder which is uncovered.

Capital's "St Mixo the Drunk" is also captured in threequarter length, standing and . . . hopefully not nude.

St John's right arm is stretched across his body, with the hand pointing to a cross with a scroll inscribed ECCE AGNUS DEI. St Mixo's left arm is held rigidly to the front, like a sword, pointing a charge towards an unfortunate Hasher.

St John's left hand holds the cross lower down, at the right is the head of a lamb. In St Mixo's other hand, a glass of sweet nector, at his left, a Barbaraaaa head.

Name: St. John the Baptist
Artist: Nicola Grazzi c1682-c1750
School: Italian
Object Type: Oil on canvas

Name: Hash Memorial Statue
Artist: Capital Hash
School: Australian
Object Type: Digital

Commissioned by Nagasaki City, the famous Peace Memorial Statue features a man, with his right arm pointing towards the sky to indicate the continued threat of nuclear destruction.

Commissioned by Capital, the Hash Memorial Statue points his left arm towards a trail marking rule breaker, a continued threat in the Hash which can lead to confusion and Mixo's wrath.
